On August 7, 2020, the Langley Hospice Society officially began construction on the long-awaited New 15-Bed Langley Hospice Residence. Designed by Keystone Architecture and being constructed by J. Floris Construction, the new residence will be located on 52 Avenue and 219A Street in Langley.
In March of 2017, the Langley Hospice Society received confirmation of funding from the Province of British Columbia through grants from the Investment in Housing Innovation Initiative and Fraser Health. An active and engaged capital campaign team, and tremendous support from the community, including additional funding received through fundraising events, private donations, grants through the Township of Langley, and the BC Centre for Palliative Care, saw the Langley Hospice Society break ground and proceed with construction of the new 15-bed Langley Hospice Residence, in the Summer of 2020 .
The new hospice residence being is being built by the Langley Hospice Society and will be operated in partnership with Fraser Health. The building is free- standing and will house 15 private rooms; its own kitchen and specialized bathing facilities, patient care and support services; a family kitchen and laundry, and access to common areas. Each patient room will have its own outdoor patio with space for a patient’s bed to be wheeled out, and access to a vibrant outdoor garden and courtyard designed for use by mobility devices — all comforts of home that can ease the end-of-life journey for patients and their families.
There are exciting days ahead, and we need your help as the Langley Hospice Society looks for support from the community to help furnish, outfit and begin operations of this important new hospice residence in the winter of 2021.
PLEASE consider making a gift, and help the Langley Hospice Society realize this important vision and residence for our community – YOUR SUPPORT will help ensure that residents of Langley have access to quality palliative care & ongoing support – when they need it most.
