Supportive Programs Centre

Supportive Program Centre Receptionist:

Are you looking for a role that allows you to talk on the phone, greet clients and support our Hospice Staff? We are looking for people for both regular weekly 3.5 hour shifts and casual on-call shifts. Computer skills are an asset but are not mandatory.

Community Outreach:

Booths, fairs and displays. Help us increase awareness of Hospice in the community by helping out at our booth during community events and our annual Celebrate-a-Life Event.

Caring Hands Quilting Group:

Are you one of those talented people that can turn small pieces of fabric into masterpieces? Join our monthly quilting group and help make quilts for children who are going through the grieving process.

Second Story Treasures Thrift Store

If you enjoy treasure hunting, meeting new people and tinkering with kitchen gadgets this may be the place for you. We are always looking for team players to pick up a weekly shift at our little boutique in Walnut Grove.

Child and Youth Bereavement Program

Child and Youth Volunteers are required to complete our 8 week Supporting Grieving Children and Youth training. This hands-on training will explore how children and youth grieve and how the use of art, play and recreational activities helps them express their grief.

Camp Chrysalis Camp Leaders:

Think back to your days of being in summer camp – this time YOU get to be the amazing Camp Leader! Camp Chrysalis is a 4-day camp held annually in August. Facilitate a safe environment where children can explore grief and play recreational activities. You will be responsible for the supervision of children between the ages of 6 – 12 years old.

Recreational Activities Volunteer:

Help out with any Children’s Program special events, from potlucks to day camps.

Child & Youth Support Group Facilitator:

Facilitate a safe environment where children and youth can explore grief. Facilitate recreational activities and discussions around loss in a small group setting.

Client Volunteer Services

Client Volunteers are required to complete our Hospice Basic Training Program. This 10-week, 30-hours long training program is designed to provide the basic skills and knowledge you need to give compassionate and caring support to dying and/or bereaved people and their families. Training occurs twice a year.

Hospice Residence Visiting Team:

A team of hospice volunteers who listen, offer emotional support and companionship to the dying and their families at the Langley Hospice Residence.

Palliative Support:

Volunteers offer and provide companionship and emotional support to a dying person and his or her family in their homes, residential care and hospitals. Volunteers may also provide other supports such as vigils and respite care.

Adult Bereavement Support:

Volunteers will have the opportunity to offer and provide emotional support, as a group facilitator or in a one-on-one setting, to individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one.
